North American Retrievers are the up and coming hybrid! A North American Retriever is the hybridization of a Labradoodle with a Goldendoodle. A few breeders have begun doing this, and we have been looking forward to our first litter of NAR for quite some time. The parents will be Didgi, our mini multigeneration Australian Labradoodle boy, and Sloopy, our mini F1B Goldendoodle. As with any hybrid, one of the first and most important questions to be asked is, "why"? Hybridization should be done only if there is a clear goal in mind. In this case, we are striving to do what many service organizations have been doing for years....combine the people-oriented, personable character of the Golden Retriever with the work ethic and energy of the Labrador Retriever. Service organizations have been breeding and using the Golden/Lab mixes with great success for quite some time. They have GREAT temperaments. However, as with both Labs and Goldens, they are not a good choice for those suffering from an allergy to dogs. That's where the poodle comes in! Our Goldendoodles and Labradoodles have been bred to include the low allergy, non-shed coat qualities of the Poodle, so we expect our North American Retrievers to have the same great fleece coats as their parents. Please complete a puppy application to be placed on the waiting list for this highly anticipated litter! |
