Prices and Procedures
(If you are looking into Doodle pricing, you may want to read my article, "How Much Does A Labradoodle Cost?")
Mini Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Double Doodles $2200
Medium Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Double Doodles $2200 (those expected to mature around 30-45 lbs)
Puppies are neutered prior to going to their new homes at 8 weeks of age, or sometimes a little older, depending on the exact date the vet gets them in for spaying/neutering. If you are comparing prices among various breeders, be sure to account for the fact that the cost of desexing (which normally runs $200-400) is INCLUDED IN the cost of a Westwood Doodle puppy. This is a cost you will pay when the puppy is 6 months old if you buy the puppy from breeders who do not neuter the puppies before sending them home. Also, according to state law in Ohio (and many other states) puppies must be 8 weeks of age or older before being sent to new homes, so be sure to ask this question of any breeder you may be thinking of working with. It tells you something about their program if they are sending home pups younger than 8 weeks.
All Goldendoodle, Labradoodle and Double Doodle puppies are microchipped as well, and go home with a puppy kit that includes a toy, a blanket that smells like home, a leash, and a collar!
Please see our page on 'What Do You Get When You get A Westwood Labradoodle' for other things you get when you purchase one of our Labradoodle puppies or Goldendoodle puppies. You may view our purchase contract as well!
Shipping is not included unless specified, and generally runs in the range of $300-400.
I generally take 5 deposits before a litter is born. The deposit is only refundable if I am unable to place with you a puppy meeting the description upon which we agree. For example, if you can only take a black male and no black males are born, you would have the choice to alter your request (to a different color or gender), apply your deposit to another litter, or get your deposit back.
The deposits place the new owners on a ranked waitlist on a first-come first-served basis. So how is it determined which puppy do
you actually get? Well, the allocation process is a combination of me matching people to their requirements and them choosing. Generally people find that color and sex take a back seat to personality and allergy properties that would be a best fit for their family! I wait until personalities of the pups become apparent, usually around 7 weeks. I then make recommendations to the first person on the list about what pups I think are appropriate for them, based on family considerations, color preferences, allergy situations, etc. They choose, then I go to the next person, give them THEIR options and they pick. And so on until your place on the list.
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out a Labradoodle/Goldendoodle puppy application. Once an application is
approved, I begin taking deposits on a litter when the prospective mom comes into season. The deposit is $500.
